These Nursing Conference Statistics are derived from a survey of more than 900 conferences held by Professional Nursing Associations during 2025. These statistics include the number of conferences by month, conference length, delivery format, hosting association operating level, and number of hosts.
Conference by Month
October was the most popular month for Nursing Conferences, followed closely by April. December was the month with the fewest number of conferences. Overall, March through May and September through November were the busiest months. The winter months, December and January, and the summer months, July and August, had the fewest conferences.
Conference Length
The adjacent table shows that most nursing conferences are three days or less in length. Many conferences are held just before a weekend, allowing attendees to combine conference attendance with personal time off. Attendees often bring family members to enjoy visiting a new city or resort area.
Conference Delivery Format
Nursing conferences were delivered in three different formats:
- In-Person – A large majority nursing conferences use the In-Person delivery format. These conferences meet in facilities ranging from small event venues that can accommodate less than a hundred attendees to large convention centers that can host thousands.
- Virtual – This delivery format uses high-performance video conferencing technology to deliver conference content to remote attendees. This format became a practical and prudent delivery option during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Hybrid – A small number of nursing conferences use a combined In-Person and Virtual format. This Hybrid format delivers In-Person conference content using a live video feed or recording for later access.
Conference Host Operating Level
State-level professional nursing associations hosted the largest number of conferences, and National-level associations held the second largest. The large number of State-level conferences reflects the relatively large number of State-level associations. The small number of Local-level conferences is due to the more limited resources of associations at the Local level.
Number of Hosts
As seen in the adjacent table, the vast majority of nursing conferences were hosted by a single Professional Nursing Associations. However, on several occasions, two or more associations pooled their resources to hold “joint” conferences. Some of these “joint” conferences occurred when individual chapters of a National association held multi-state conferences for their members. On other occasions, associations with separate but interrelated areas of interest joined to hold interdisciplinary conferences.
