State APRN Licensure Compact Participation Map

What is the APRN Licensure Compact?

The APRN Compact is a multi-state nursing license agreement developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN). An APRN residing and licensed in any one of the APRN Compact participating states may apply for a multi-state license. This license enables the nurse to practice in any other participating state without additional license applications or licensure fees.

What is the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.?

As it sounds, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. is an organization whose primary membership includes the nursing boards for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 4 United States territories. The NCSBN is a not-for-profit organization that provides its membership with a mechanism to jointly develop and improve regulatory guidelines for public safety, health, and welfare.
